Why Pilates for Management of Pain and Long-Term Conditions?

Pilates is a low-impact, controlled form of exercise designed to strengthen deep stabilising muscles, improve posture, and support healthy movement patterns. It focuses on aligning the body, engaging the core, and building muscular balance — all critical elements for reducing pain and preventing re-injury.

Pilates can be especially effective for managing:

  • Lower back pain

  • Neck and shoulder tension

  • Hip and pelvic pain

  • Knee and ankle injuries

  • Post-surgical rehabilitation

  • Chronic conditions like arthritis

By addressing the root causes of dysfunction, Pilates doesn’t just treat the symptoms — it helps you move better for the long term.

Our Approach to Rehabilitation Pilates

At Thrive, we take a personalised approach to injury recovery and pain management. Our experienced instructors (one of whom is a trained physiotherapist) will work closely with you to understand your history, current challenges, and goals.

We offer:

  • One-on-one clinical Pilates sessions tailored to your needs

  • Modifications and adjustments to suit all levels and injuries

  • Collaboration with physiotherapists and healthcare providers where needed

Every session is carefully programmed to build strength where you need it most, release tightness, and retrain your body for optimal function.

    • ACC sessions are only available through Rhianna Waller, our ACC-registered rehabilitation provider.

    • Sessions must be one-on-one and focused on injury recovery

    • ACC covers the physiotherapy treatment only. While our exercises are inspired by Pilates, the ACC claim is for physiotherapy rehabilitation services.

    • General Pilates classes or group sessions are not eligible for ACC funding.

    • If your ACC claim is later declined, you’ll be responsible for paying the full private rate for any sessions provided under that claim. We will require your billing information prior to your initial session, and we’ll notify you promptly if a claim is denied. If ACC does not approve your claim, the difference between the ACC-subsidised rate and the private rate will be charged to your billing information.

    • Client surcharge with approved ACC claim: $51
